World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2019 is an opportunity for all of us as a community to raise awareness of mental health issues, advocate against the social stigma and introduce new and targeted activities to improve employee health & well being.
Did you know that two in five (39%) of UK employees have cited work as a root cause for experiencing mental health issues, new research has revealed?
The new report – released by Business in the Community (BITC), in partnership with Mercer Marsh Benefits and BITC’s Well-Being Leadership team has found that a third of workers (33%) attributed work-related mental health issues to unproductive colleague relationships, while 24% said that the issues arose as a result of harassment or bullying.
Businesses are at their best when people are at their best. Riada advocate a culture of openness and communication by putting our employees first, bringing them closer together in a place they can grow. Regular 1-1’s reviews, team meetings and annual appraisals encourage a productive culture of openness and trust.
This duty of care applies to our client workers also, as Riada understand that your staff are an instrumental part of your company culture and key to future success and longevity. By understanding our candidate needs through pre screening processes, getting to know all our candidates through regular conversations and interviews and holding skills tests to ensure all achieve the right role for them, we ensure we exceed the needs of our candidates and clients.
Riada invite fellow businesses to follow 3 processes encouraged by Business in the Community (BITC) in order to achieve improved performance, business success and ultimately a happy and enhanced employment experience:
Create safe cultures that enhance mental health. This includes job security, good pay and professional development opportunities.
Acknowledge those who are struggling and support those with poor mental health.
Publicly report the well-being performance of the company.
To be the best employers and attract top talent, we as a business community can ensure people bring their whole selves to work and thrive while there by removing the barriers to improving the well being, retention and productivity of all our workers. ______________________________________________________________________
